What the statement actually certifies

Your Fire Safety Schedule lists the essential fire safety measures the building must maintain. The statement confirms each one still performs to the standard it was installed to.

It is issued every twelve months, and in New South Wales it must be issued by an accredited practitioner. That is why the statement is only ever as good as the person behind it.

What is involved

• Schedule assessmentWe start from your building's Fire Safety Schedule and work through every measure listed on it, so nothing is missed and nothing irrelevant is assessed.
• Inspection and testingOn site inspection and testing of the installed measures, including the AS1851-2012 routine service on portable equipment, hose reels and lighting.
• Defect rectificationWhere a measure fails you get a written defect list. We rectify the equipment side ourselves and re-inspect.
• Statement issuedOnce every measure passes, the statement is issued by an accredited practitioner, ready to lodge with council and Fire and Rescue NSW.

Why the practitioner matters

What is an Annual Fire Safety Statement?

A document confirming that each essential fire safety measure listed on your building's Fire Safety Schedule has been inspected and still performs to the standard it was installed to. It is issued every twelve months.

Who is allowed to issue one?

In New South Wales it must be issued by an accredited practitioner. Safety Compliance Group uses FPAS Accredited Practitioners (Fire Safety) and has a Competent Fire Safety Practitioner on staff.

Ours is overdue. What happens now?

Get in touch and we will book the inspection. Being overdue does not change the process, it just makes it more urgent, and we will tell you honestly what is involved to bring the building back into line.

What if something fails the inspection?

You get a written defect list explaining what failed and what it takes to fix. We can rectify the equipment side ourselves and re-inspect, so the statement is not held up longer than it needs to be.

Do you cover my area?

Statement inspections are carried out across the Greater Sydney metropolitan area.

Can you do our diagrams and equipment servicing at the same time?

Yes, and most clients prefer it. Diagrams to AS3745-2010, flip charts, emergency response plans and AS1851-2012 equipment servicing all come from the same team, on one invoice.
